Few distilleries balance heritage and innovation as gracefully as The Dalmore. Renowned for its rich, sherry-finished single malts, the Highland house now turns its gaze toward another cornerstone of flavor: red wine. With its latest release, Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Cask Edition, The Dalmore explores the art of maturation through a trilogy of rare expressions — each a testament to craftsmanship, patience, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

The Art of Curation
Launched in 2023, The Dalmore’s Cask Curation Series celebrates the diverse vessels that shape its signature depth. Each annual release pays homage to a different cask influence. The debut Sherry Edition honored the brand’s century-long partnership with González Byass in Spain, while the 2024 Port Edition continued the legacy through carefully selected port pipes.

Now, the journey continues through the vineyards of France. The Red Wine Cask Edition comprises three extraordinary whiskies — aged 24, 34, and 43 years — each finished in red-wine barrels sourced from the legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. In a collaboration that bridges two worlds of heritage, The Dalmore partnered with fourth-generation winemaker Pierre Fabre of Château Mont-Redon, founded in 1923, to curate casks rich with the essence of Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes.

A Symphony of Flavour and Time
Each expression was bottled with integrity — no chill filtration, no added color — allowing the influence of French oak and red wine to resonate naturally.

The layers of flavor from the complex grape blends held inside these Châteauneuf-du-Pape casks have been instrumental in the development of these three unique single malts,”
said Richard Paterson OBE, The Dalmore’s master distiller.
“Red-wine casks have played an integral role in shaping The Dalmore’s success, so it felt fitting to release some very rare expressions as part of the Cask Curation Series.”
The 24-year-old reveals lush notes of berry, honey, and maple. The 34-year-old offers a deeper tannic balance with hints of grape and black pepper, while the 43-year-old presents a masterful crescendo — leather, dark berries, and bittersweet chocolate unfolding with regal finesse.

Presented as a set of three, only 150 collections of the Red Wine Cask Edition exist worldwide, priced at $44,450 (approx. R830,000). Each set is encased in a bespoke travel case handcrafted by Italian luggage atelier AB Florence — a collectible masterpiece that mirrors the spirit within.
For connoisseurs, this release represents not just whisky, but a conversation between wood, wine, and time — an alchemy that only The Dalmore could so elegantly orchestrate.
