Breitling x Aston Martin Valhalla: A Bespoke Chronomat For The Few

Breitling opens its Super Chronomat design process exclusively to Aston Martin Valhalla owners, creating an opportunity to personalise a mechanical timepiece around one of Britain’s most exclusive supercars.

In high-end watchmaking and automotive design, personalisation has become an expression of ownership that extends beyond choosing a colour or selecting a finish. It is about creating an object that reflects the individual behind it. Breitling and Aston Martin are taking that idea to the wrist with a bespoke Super Chronomat programme available exclusively to owners of the Aston Martin Valhalla.

Announced on 8 October 2026, the programme gives Valhalla owners access to a dedicated configurator through which they can commission a timepiece inspired by their car’s specification and their personal preferences. The experience brings together two distinct disciplines united by a shared interest in precision engineering, performance and considered design.

For Breitling, the initiative opens the design process of its Super Chronomat collection to a select group of clients. For Aston Martin, it extends the Valhalla ownership experience beyond the vehicle itself, creating a personal connection between the car and a mechanical object designed to be worn.

The Valhalla: Engineering Without Compromise

The programme takes its inspiration from the Aston Martin Valhalla, the marque’s first series-production mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar. Limited to 999 examples worldwide, the Valhalla combines a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with three electric motors, producing a combined 1,079 PS.

Aston Martin quotes a 0–62 mph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. Its aerodynamic package and Formula 1-derived engineering place it among the most technologically ambitious road cars in the marque’s history.

The Valhalla’s appeal extends beyond its performance figures. Its design brings together sculpted bodywork, advanced materials and a highly engineered cabin, with the specification of each car reflecting its owner’s choices. The Breitling programme translates that emphasis on individuality into a different medium, allowing selected details of the watch to be personalised around the customer’s own tastes.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, describes the initiative as an opportunity to create a bespoke timepiece inspired by each owner’s Valhalla, reflecting the shared commitment of both brands to design excellence and meticulous attention to detail.

Two Super Chronomats, Two Expressions

The programme offers two watches for customisation, each with its own proportions, materials and complications.

Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

The more technically elaborate option is housed in a 44mm titanium case and fitted with Breitling’s distinctive Rouleaux bracelet. Its carbon-fibre dial reinforces the connection to contemporary performance engineering, while the display caseback reveals a black rotor and the movement within.

The watch combines an automatic chronograph with a perpetual calendar, a complication designed to account for different month lengths, leap years and the passage of the calendar. According to Breitling’s programme information, the calendar requires no manual adjustment until 2100, while the movement offers a 96-hour power reserve.

Personalisation options include the colour of the rehaut and seconds hand, the counter-hand colour and rotor engraving. These details give owners a way to distinguish their watch without changing the underlying character of the model.

The result is a timepiece that pairs a technically sophisticated movement with materials and finishing choices that reference the engineering language of the Valhalla.

Super Chronomat Automatic 38

The second option offers a more compact interpretation. The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 combines a 38mm stainless-steel case with the Rouleaux bracelet, a textured carbon-fibre dial and a diamond-set bezel.

Its automatic three-hand display is complemented by a date aperture at six o’clock. A titanium crown adds another performance-inspired material to the design, while the overall proportions provide a different presence from the larger 44mm perpetual calendar chronograph.

Customisation is focused on the rehaut and hands, alongside caseback engraving. The approach gives owners the opportunity to introduce personal details while retaining the defining features of the Automatic 38.

Together, the two models offer different interpretations of the same brief: one centred on mechanical complexity and a larger titanium case, the other on a more compact format with jewellery-like detailing.

Personalisation As An Extension Of Ownership

The significance of the programme lies in the level of access it provides. Rather than selecting from a standard range of team-branded or co-branded watches, Valhalla owners can participate in a defined customisation process for one of Breitling’s established collections.

The configurator allows selected elements to be tailored to individual preferences, connecting the finished watch to the customer’s own vehicle and extending the relationship between the two brands into everyday life.

Georges Kern, CEO of House of Brands at Breitling, describes the initiative as a way to bring the Valhalla experience to the wrist. Stefano Saporetti, Aston Martin’s Director of Brand Diversification, similarly positions the programme as an extension of the ownership experience, built around the expertise and craftsmanship of both companies.

The programme does not replace the distinct identities of the two products. Instead, it creates a point of connection between them: Aston Martin’s focus on high-performance automotive design and Breitling’s experience in mechanical watchmaking.

From Gaydon To La Chaux-de-Fonds

The collaboration also brings together two centres of specialist production. Aston Martin manufactures the Valhalla at its global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England, while Breitling produces its watches at its Chronométrie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Each location represents a different tradition of precision engineering. In Gaydon, the focus is on combining powertrain technology, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics. In La Chaux-de-Fonds, the emphasis is on the construction and finishing of mechanical timepieces.

The bespoke Super Chronomat programme connects these disciplines through design and personalisation. Its appeal rests not only on the association between two luxury names, but also on the opportunity to commission a watch whose details reflect a specific car and its owner.

A More Personal Definition Of Luxury

For Valhalla owners, the Breitling programme offers a way to carry the character of their vehicle beyond the road. The available choices remain focused on selected elements of the two Super Chronomat models, but those details can establish a meaningful connection between the watch and the car.

In a market where exclusivity is often communicated through limited production and high performance, personalisation offers another measure of distinction. It allows the owner to participate in the design of an object rather than simply acquire a finished product.

Available exclusively to Valhalla owners, the bespoke Super Chronomat experience brings automotive engineering and Swiss watchmaking into a more individual relationship. The car expresses its identity through form, materials and performance; the watch carries that connection into a smaller, personal object — one shaped around the preferences of the person who owns both.

The Business of Being Yourself. Yasmin Furmie, co The Business of Being Yourself.

Yasmin Furmie, co-founder of SiSi The Collection, talks to Grandiose about personal style, collecting with intention and building a design language that refuses to follow the crowd. Her philosophy is perhaps best captured in the words she uses to describe William Kentridge designers including Lezanne Viviers, Thebe Magugu, Rich Mnisi, Sindiso Khumalo and Lukhanyo Mdingi, Furmie makes a compelling case for individuality, excellence and staying true to what you believe in.

She also reflects on reinvention, creative freedom and the importance of allowing yourself to change direction. Her philosophy is perhaps best captured in the words she uses to describe William Kentridge: “The work speaks for itself.”

KARUIZAWA 1960: THE WHISKY BOTTLE THAT EXISTS TWIC KARUIZAWA 1960: THE WHISKY BOTTLE THAT EXISTS TWICE IN HISTORY

On 18 September, Sotheby’s will offer one of the most extraordinary bottles in Japanese whisky collecting: Karuizawa 1960 Cask #5627, “The Prototype.”

Estimated at $400,000–$600,000, the bottle was drawn directly from Karuizawa’s oldest cask on 20 December 2012, before the celebrated 1960 vintage was commercially released.

Only two bottles were ever hand-filled directly from Cask #5627 at this pre-release stage.

This bottle was filled by Osami Uchibori, Karuizawa’s final Master Distiller, who had worked at the distillery since the cask was originally distilled in 1960.

Matured for 52 years, Cask #5627 ultimately yielded just 41 commercially available bottles.

The Prototype is more than an exceptionally rare whisky.

It is a surviving piece of a distillery that can never produce again.

Some bottles preserve whisky. Others preserve history.
