Bentley has lifted the veil on its latest masterpiece of craftsmanship: Ombre by Mulliner, an exquisite new hand-painted finish that redefines what’s possible in automotive design. The technique, which takes more than 56 hours of meticulous work, seamlessly blends two distinct colours across the length of the vehicle, creating a striking gradient effect unlike anything seen before.
Debuting on a specially commissioned Continental GT Speed, the Ombre finish represents one of Bentley’s most technically demanding and visually breathtaking paint processes to date.
A Complex Process, Perfected by Hand
To achieve the flawless fade, the car is first coated in two contrasting tones at either end. Expert paint technicians then layer and blend transitional shades by hand, carefully adjusting the application in response to how each paint behaves. The process demands patience, artistry, and precision, ensuring that while no two cars will be exactly alike, each achieves the perfect flow from one colour to the next.
Available initially in three curated colour combinations, the Ombre finish has been designed to guarantee smooth transitions while retaining Mulliner’s exacting standards of perfection.
Continental GT Speed: The First Showcase
The launch car features a Topaz-to-Windsor Blue gradient, most striking across the central body panels and following the elegant haunch line toward the rear. Even the 22-inch ten-spoke swept wheels carry the fade, transitioning in harmony with the bodywork to complete the dramatic effect.
Interior in Perfect Balance
Inside, Mulliner’s Bespoke Studio has mirrored the gradient theme. The cabin begins with Topaz-coloured hides on the front seats, steering wheel, and instrument panel, which gently fade into deep Beluga leather at the rear. Finely executed Dragonfly-coloured stitching and piping accentuate the design, while Satin Beluga veneers provide a tactile balance to the rich colour palette.
The interior is further enhanced with hallmark Bentley features such as the Rotating Display, Naim for Bentley premium audio system, and the Dark Chrome Interior Specification, first introduced with the latest Continental GT.
Now Available to Order
What began as a one-off personal commission is now accessible to clients worldwide. The Ombre by Mulliner paint finish is officially available to order through Bentley’s global retailer network, offering collectors and enthusiasts a new level of personalisation that places colour artistry at the forefront of automotive luxury.
